The Dushanbe Flagpole is a flagpole located in front of the Palace of Nations in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. It is now only second tallest free-standing flagpole in the world, after the newly erected (170m) Jeddah Flagpole. At a height of , it is still higher as the National Flagpole in Azerbaijan, the Panmunjeom Flagpole of Kijŏng-dong in North Korea, and the Ashgabat Flagpole in Turkmenistan.〔(【引用サイトリンク】date=1 September 2009 )〕 The flagpole flies a Flag of Tajikistan weighing . ==Construction== The flagpole consists of 12-metre sections of steel tube fitted together by crane. It was constructed and erected by Trident Support, based in San Diego. The company was also responsible for Azerbaijan's National Flagpole. The design phase for the flagpole began in July 2009. Fabrication of the pole sections was completed in Dubai in October 2010.
